Christopher S. Poggi, D.O.
Dr. Christopher Poggi was born and raised in Somerset. He graduated from Somerset High School and earned a B.S. in comprehensive sciences from Villanova University. He earned a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA
After completing a residency in family practice, a fellowship in osteopathic manipulative therapy, and medical acupuncture, Dr. Chris Poggi returned to Somerset in 2008 to join his father’s practice.
Dr. Poggi is board certified in family practice and Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy and is a licensed medical acupuncturist. He is a medical staff member of Somerset Hospital and Windber Hospital. He is also a Board Member of the Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Practice Society.
Dr. Chris and his wife Becky, also a Somerset native, run the practice today.
Awards & Recognition
Dr. Christopher Poggi received the Raymond J. Saloom, D.O. Memorial Award on April 28, 2017 from the Pennsylvania Society of The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, in recognition of his untiring efforts to promote the art of family practice and to preserve the integrity of the Osteopathic profession.
Our History
Dr. Alfred Poggi and his wife, Betty moved from the Bronx, NY to Somerset, PA in the early 1970s, and Dr. Alfred began practicing with Dr. Houpt. In 1978, Dr. Alfred and Betty founded Poggi Family Practice. Dr. Christopher joined his father at the practice in 2008, and the two practiced together until Alfred’s retirement in 2016. Betty passed away in September 2016, and Dr. Alfred joined her in April 2017. Dr. Christopher and his wife Rebecca both grew up in Somerset and run the practice today, with the mission of continuing the tradition handed down to the them.
